Indigenous Peoples

Antelope Canyon, Page Arizona, Navajo Nation

In March 2023 I had the chance to visit the Navajo reservation in Arizona and Utah. After learning some history and spending time with Navajo teenagers I was inspired to learn more. We are not properly educated on Indigenous populations in our own country and around the world so I am using this project as an exploration of Indigenous cultures.

As I look at my own history education, I feel as though I was never properly taught about Indigenous People in America and in the world, so I made a 20 lesson course on Indigenous studies. There is no way to ever learn everything about Indigenous Peoples, but through this syllabus, I hope to highlight some important parts.

It is impossible to understand a culture without knowing its food, and while there are too many Indigenous tribes to learn about all of their typical foods, I made an infographic highlighting typical Indigenous foods used and some dishes from different regions of the world.
